Would you? Our way of life, values, and future are about to go extinct. The trend of the US is towards socialism. If the "elites" have their way we will be replaced by third world imports. Just curious what yall think.

If TX secedes, I would hope they would let me move in

I am bad with history, my memory is shot, but I am pretty sure it isn't possible for a state to secede from the union.

That said I read some interesting stuff about how the supreme court said TX had no standing to sue PA in the election issues, and TX is using that a legal precedent to say that no state could then have standing if TX seceded, seems logical. If the courts deem constitutional agreements on voting void, then all are void.

If Texas leaves surely Alabama will too. Texas will go blue as soon as amnesty is given so they better think fast.

As a transplant from the north 5 years ago I would definitely support secession but another alternative would be simply to not enforce federal firearms laws in Alabama without county and state enforcement like in California the laws would be almost toothless. At least half a dozen other states have done this at this time. I moved to the South because this is where freedom lives

Yes. I think we have come to a point where we can not live side by side as Americans anymore. I make sure to stay on top of the news everyday. The contempt that liberals have for conservatives is unreal and if you are familiar with history they are using the same rhetoric that Nazi Germany, the USSR, and the CCP used to purge their political opposition. They often dehumanized the enemy. Called for them to be purged, for their children to be taken away, and for public humiliation of people who did not agree with their ideals. AOC has said that we can not heal together because the south is oppressed and must be liberated. We have had Trump supporters killed in Portland for just wearing a MAGA hat. We are far too different socially and politically and if we do not come to a peaceful resolution then conservatives will never hold office ever again and we will be forced to swallow the pill of communism.

As a libertarian im pretty indifferent. Secession would just create two or more different countries with different flavors of tyranny. I don't want to live in MAGA land any more than I do bidenville. I just want people to be free to do as they please. There should never be a crime without a victim but if people don't stop thinking left vs right and start thinking freedom vs control there always will be. I find it so strange that people can want others locked up for owning one object or substance but condemn the other side for wanting different objects or substances banned. How about we allow people to have full property rights? If it isn't stolen or a person, let's just all mind our business.

Edit: and before someone starts the drug argument, someone simply using, owning or selling a drug doesn't violate your rights. The tired old "stealing to buy drugs" argument is as idiotic as the arguments against "assault weapons". Don't make me get out my statistics on alcohol.

I said yes, but having our union Balkanize isn’t something I’m really prepared for. I’ve got 5 sons (ages 9 and down), and I’m in no way ready for them to see war and the horrors it would bring. I’ve entertained the convention of the states idea to remedy problems but I don’t think it’s a realistic option.

I can understand that, but the alternative is for them to grow up in a nanny state where they might not even know the meaning of freedom. I prefer a peaceful transition and perhaps we could have a hybrid of the European Union where we are able to keep the economic and military strength but are separated politically. Their citizens can vote in statism and we can keep our freedoms.

I would not worry about our current governor over using power.

Legislatures not governors are the one that control it. Do you really trust enough other states' legislatures not to roll over to leftist states like CA, MD, NJ, NY, etc. on things like 2A or even 1A?

Even worse case with article V is better than where we are going.

See below.

It's like we're two different species at this point.

Bear in mind that a convention could also wipe out the 2nd, 4th, even 1st Amendments in a sweep.

Which is the true danger and most people haven't bothered to look into how easily that can happen.

How would that stop anything? Trump still sent in ICE and other federal law enforcement into CA and other states despite them giving edicts against the enforcement of immigration services. There have already been bills submitted to increase ATF funding and personnel. The feds and state officials rarely get along, my father often had to work with the marshal service and FBI. Anytime he had to deal with the latter he said they were arrogant pricks. I doubt that any sort of resolution from states would prevent the federal government from enforcing their laws.

People need to realize that the feds could pull gun stores licensing if they some how managed to continue being supplied with banned firearms and accessories. Everything is linked to the feds. We have to remember that this isn't something that can be accomplished over night and with the stroke of a pen, they are going to play the long game. Ban everything and as decades pass there won't be anymore assault weapons, and the ones that still exist would be privately owned and unable to be transferred to anyone.
