300WSM A-max

I'm starting up a load for a 300WSM to do elk and deer hunting. I have a boatload of .30 Hornaday A-Max on hand and have heard they are great for consistency and terminal ballistics on elk at longer ranges. My concern is that I've also heard of them grenading/shallow fragmenting at high velocities at short range.

Does anyone have experience running A-Max for hunting at velocities over 2800 fps? Or have better options for a high-velocity multi-range hunting bullet for large game?

I would go with an ELDX over an Amax. Or better yet a nosler accubond or partition. Hard to bead simple 165 interlock Hornadys for all purpose bullet. Barnes are awesome too but quite pricey.

I agree with you, myself I load Nosler accubond!
