Anyone ever done an M40A1 clone?

I'm trying to find a cheap Remington 700 action to mount a custom thick taper barrel to. I have an unertl MST100 but no mount. Debating on just getting a Leupold one piece mount to avoid having to clip slot a receiver (if I find one)

Good luck finding a cheap R700 action, especially since Remington went out of business. I've been looking to do something similar and the prices for everything involved are daunting. It won't be 100% clone correct but you might be able to get a Bergara action for relatively cheap; they're still in production and based on the R700 so they take all the parts and accessories an R700 would.
