I'm still learning so all opinions appreciated.

also if you have a favorite main firearm and side arm combo as a favorite if you prefer different calibers.

It seems to have a remarkable similarity to .410 bore

Relying on one type of ammo for both a long gun and handgun isn't something I would do (you'll never get the same velocity out of a handgun cartridge in a rifle length barrel as you would from just using a dedicated rifle cartridge) but if I absolutely had to the best all purpose combo would probably by a lever action in .357 or .44 magnum and a revolver to match it

Revolver/lever action carbine - I ended up with .357

Semi auto pistol/carbine - I ended up with .40 S&W

I've had plenty of other combos, and I don't have any compelling reasons why I ended up with those combos.

I love my lever guns also but I am torn between 44 and 357 magnum. Granted there are plenty of long gun calibers that I would rather carry but these don’t have side arm partners . As for modern type firearms 300 blackout is my go to for my pistol and rifle. (Sig Rattler with my TC contender, I can switch my can between both of them)

.357 magnum easy to reload works in both revolver and a couple semi auto pistols and several lever action rifles and a couple pumps.

Yes these both are 300 blackout or 300 AAC but the barrel on the Contender is an after market barrel made by Match Grade Machine and sold by Hauseofarms, I think that is the name. The Contender is wicked quiet but being 300 it’s not a long range gun but super fun anywhere up to 200 yards. When I purchased the barrel TC did not list 300 blk out in their catalog. And by the way this is a 161/4 inch barrel.

I like the idea of 9mm/350 Legend as a pistol/rifle same bullet combo. 147 grain would be suitable in both. It’s light for the 350 and heavy for 9mm but works well enough for both. 115’s would work in theory - haven’t tried it yet - but it should work, if too much powder isn’t needed it overfills the case. Would have to be copper jacketed bullets, anything else probably spin itself into a million pieces.
Same for 45 acp/450 Bushmaster.
