This may well not apply to you at all, so please don't take offense. Lots of guys assume a .38 snubbie is the perfect "wife gun", but if the wife ever actually tries to shoot it, they find the trigger pull is so hard she has a difficult time. My suggestion to guys in that boat are a) replace springs to reduce the trigger pull, and b) make sure your wife actually can semi-accurately shoot the gun at 5 yard distance.
The 442 is really a difficult gun to shoot. It does not have a rear site. I know because I have one. She would be better off in the long run with Kimber Micro 9. Just my .02.
