Planting food plots

Is anyone else planting food plots later in season do to being so dry and hot? South Alabama

I'm gonna try to plant one this week. We had a bit of rain last week and its cooling down now.
My punkins survived the heat...barely.

I planted mine late. So far they are doing alright, Last year they all started well then died off when it got dry in August
