Have to realize that in 1972, minimum wage was $1.60/hr. Adjusted for inflation, you have to multiply 1972 prices by 6.78 to equal today's prices. Therefore, the price of that Marlin 30-30 for $80 would be $542 in today's dollars.

Roger that and no doubt. I love those 1970 Marlins though and if you can find a minty one nowadays they can go for over a grand.

Get it off here with them facts. Nobody wants to hear it. I was having a good time daydreaming about how I could afford that, and that, and that... Then you come and crush my dreams :'(

During summer break of 1975 I cut grass everyday and made $107.00. I gave every bit of it to my mom (I was 14 at the time) and sent her into Otasco to buy a winchester model 94 for me. She brought me $6 in change back. Still got the gun but it's ugly, bluing is almost all gone. My dad used it more than me. He was a heavy equipment operator for a gas pipeline company and shot several deer while operating a dozer. It rode in a leather scabbard many hours Times have definitely changed.
