My first 22 rifle was a Remington 514 bolt action single shot that I got handed down to me from my dad. Still have it. It was made in the 40’s and has no serial number. S/N’s on long guns weren’t required back then.

Mine was a Winchester 190 that I got for Christmas when I was 15. It was stolen out of my truck 3 years later. Decades later I bought another one just for nostalgia but didn't keep it because by then I'd learned how terrible their triggers are. When I was 16, my Grandfather died and I inherited his Remington 512X that he'd kept in the boat as his "snake gun". It was rusty and the stock had no finish at all left. I stabilized the rust with steel wool and CLP, but it remains in much the same condition as when I inherited it almost a half century ago. I still use it today for back-yard utility duties killing squirrels, chipmunks, and the occasional trapped coon because it shoots .22 Short CB Caps so accurately.

Once my brother got old enough to shoot, he got the Ithaca and I got "upgraded" to a Revelation (Western Auto) Model 105. Still have it too (scope was a recent addition)...

Wish I still had mine. It was a little .22 Chipmunk - bolt action but only held a single round at a time. Great trainer for kids. My dad sold it to an older cousin of mine for his kids once I had outgrew it so at least it stayed in the family.

My first was also a Remington bolt action in 22 from my grandfather. Great way to learn. Unfortunately that one was long ago gone but I picked up one many years ago at a gun auction.

Man I couldn’t begin to tell you the brand. I actually still have the gun. I’m 30 years old now and it belonged to my grandmother before I was even born. I grew up shooting that 22. It’s the cheapest most valuable gun I own.

Got an Ithaca M49 for my 12th birthday in 1968, tried like hell to hit ground squirrels 40-50 yards out our back door...close but no cigar! A year later I started clearing the property with a new scoped Marlin mod. 60. Loved that gun a long time, still do, but I bought a Ruger 10-22 in 1982 so now I have 2 favorite rimfires! Thanks for allowing me to ramble down memory lane...

Henry 22 lever action. Still have it. Got it whrn I was in 7th grade. Wouldn't take any amount of money for it. Traded it for a 30-06 one time and got it back later on.

Marlin model 60. Very accurate with 4 x tip off scope. Sold it and bought my first 10-22. Still have it after 50 years. It's seen 5 different barrels and 3 different stocks

My uncle gave me my first 22 which also was my first gun, it’s a Springfield model 86C . He let me borrow it to go on a dove hunt I didn’t know any better I thought I was really doing something. When I went to give it back to him he said he wanted me to keep it. There is no telling how many rounds I have shot through it and at least half of those were rat shot. This gun has killed many many rats and pigeons. We knew were there was about an 8 ft gator so I would go kill whatever to feed him. I will end with this I haven’t kept excellent care of it like I should have but even with its history it is still a tac driver clean or dirty it doesn’t matter. I have had this gun for at least 62 years.

Mine was a Remington model 66. They were cheap back in the day. Today, they are hard to find. I sure wish I still had it. By the way, that was 60 years ago.

Glenfield bolt action with a groundhog impressed into the stock at the wrist. Considered a cheapo rifle then, 1970s, much nicer than most budget .22s for sale these days.

Christmas 1978 found two .22 caliber rifles under the tree, thought I had hit the jackpot but dad informed me I had to make a decision on which one I wanted cause the other was going back to the store. Choice was between a 10/22 or remington 552 speedmaster, I choose the ruger, still have it. Sometimes I wish I would have took the 552.

I used my fathers' 1939 Winchester Model 74 .22 short only until I bought my first, a Remington Model 582. It is a bolt action, tube fed, that will feed anything except Rem Yellow Jackets, and is very accurate. Still in the safe, along with about 6 other .22's now.
