Shotgun optics

I recently picked up a versa max tactical shotgun and am thinking about adding an optic. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking a small red dot might be the best as I want it to be low profile.

I saw a thing a while back about the mossberg 940 pro i think and they suggested a holosun i can't remember the model but it was the solar green circle reticle ill double check

i haven't run a small reflex sight on a shotgun before but i did use a 510c a lot bigger but i liked it

I ended up ordering a Trijicon rmr. Will see how that works

I'm using a 507C on my Beretta 1301...the pistol-sized optics work great on shotguns.

Hey @kwb377 If I wanted the iron/ghost rings that are on the Beretta 1301 where would I get them and how do they witness with the 507c?

The front is the stock sight that comes on the Tactical model. The rear is an Aridus CROM that replaces the factory rear ghost ring and Pic rail...allows direct mounting the optic and provides a lower 1/3 co-witness with the irons.

I think you made the right choice with the Trijicon. I don’t think a holosun would hold up. The only other optic I would say is a aimpoint but that would add some weight.

The Holosun 507C on my Beretta only has @ 500 rnds. of 12g. on it so far (was mounted on my Benelli Supernova previously, and on a pistol prior to that), so hopefully {fingers crossed} it holds up.

The 407C mounted on my duty pistol has been beat around (knocked on door frames, car doors, etc.) and has thousands of rounds on it with no issues.

What types of issues have you had with your Holosuns?

{The fingers crossed comment was sarcasm...I have no doubt that it'll continue to "hold up" }

My aems holds up great but that's 300blk
My 510c held up great on my Winchester 1300 defender and Shockwave
I had a holoson 507c on a glock 34 held up well but didn't have it long
That being said can't go wrong with a trijicon

I haven’t had any issues at all with holosun. I have the 503, 510, 509t, and a 407k on the way. My only concern would be the recoil on a 12 gauge but that is honestly me just being over cautious. It would more then likely hold up to it but it would depend if you want to test that and deal with holosuns warranty if the optic didn’t hold up. At least with the Trijicon, many guys run them on their 12 gauge so they have been proven.
